# The DeltaV Plant view

Browsing every DeltaV export of the workspace in the DeltaV Plant view, with plant areas, module classes and instances, batch equipment, and controllers with their I/O references.

**Verification state:** modelled. The reader was run on one real DeltaV 14.5.1 export (25 MB, 293 modules, 45 module classes): it decodes and writes back byte for byte, parses in about 0.5 s and indexes in about 0.35 s on Linux. The meaning of each field is read from its name and values in that export, not from Emerson's books. Other DeltaV versions, other databases and exports of single objects have not been read. Not seen in the running Editor; not on Windows.

## The view

With the environment on, the Explorer has a **DeltaV Plant** view listing every export of the workspace with its module, class and area counts. Under each export:

- its **plant areas** with their modules;
- its **module classes** with their instances;
- the **modules that name no area**;
- each module with its function blocks.

An area that modules name but the export does not define is marked as such. Click a row to open the export at that place. The view reads an export again when it changes on disk; **Refresh DeltaV Plant** reads all of them again. An export that cannot be read shows why, with the line.

### Commands on a row

| Row | Right-click offers |
|---|---|
| An export | **Open Alarms**, **Write Configuration Report** |
| A module class | **Edit Instances**, **Open Function Block Diagram**, **Show Impact of a Change** |
| A phase class | **Show Impact of a Change** |

## Batch equipment

Under each export, **Batch equipment** shows the ISA-88 equipment hierarchy the export holds:

- process cells with their units, and each unit's phases;
- units in no process cell of the export;
- phase classes with their parameters (direction, type, group, description).

A row opens the export there. Read on the real export: 4 process cells, 8 units with 41 phases, and 22 phase classes with 425 parameters. Recipes, equipment modules and the link from a phase class to its sequence are not read.

## Controllers and I/O

Under each export that has controllers or I/O references, **Controllers and I/O** shows:

- each controller with the modules and units assigned to it;
- each module's I/O references as `AI1$IO_IN -> //...`, with the signal class and whether the path names a module of the export, a controller of the export, or something outside it; a path to another controller is marked;
- modules and classes with I/O references but no controller;
- the nodes outside the export that I/O references name;
- the I/O parameters with no path (`""` or `#IGNORE`).

Read on the real export: 5 controllers, 310 I/O references, 149 nodes outside the export, 35 parameters with no path. Card, channel and remote zone are recognised only in the path forms DeltaV's online books show; whether DeltaV writes those paths in an export is not verified. Cards, channels, DSTs and CHARMs themselves are not read: neither the real export nor any public source found shows their FHX form.

## Size and speed

Every view reads an export on the window's main thread at each refresh, sharing one parsed copy per version of the text with Problems, the language features and the agent tools. A whole-plant export at its real size has not been tried in the running Editor.
