# Configuration Wizard

CMSIS-annotated configuration files such as RTX_Config.h, FreeRTOSConfig.h, startup files and a pack's .dbgconf, edited as a form beside the text, as Keil uVision's Configuration Wizard does.

Set RTX5's tick, stack sizes and ISR queue in a form, and the diff is just those values. Any file with CMSIS Configuration Wizard annotations (the Open-CMSIS-Pack specification's annotations, such as `<o>` and `<e>`) opens as a form: Keil RTX5's `RTX_Config.h`, CMSIS-FreeRTOS `FreeRTOSConfig.h`, startup files, a device pack's `.dbgconf`.

## Open and edit

1. Open the file and run **Open Configuration Wizard**. The file must have the line `<<< Use Configuration Wizard in Context Menu >>>` as a comment within its first 100 lines.
2. The form shows the file, the line range of its Configuration Wizard section, and the options as headings, check boxes, numbers, lists and text fields, each with its description, default, allowed range or list, and the line it is on. **Open as Text** opens the file beside the form; a line link shows that line in the text editor.
3. Change a value. The form says what changed on which line ("changed on line 182; save the file to keep it").
4. **Save** writes the file.

An edit changes only the value's characters in the text, as one Undo step in the text editor, which takes it back. A value outside its range, step or list is refused, as is text where a number is expected.

## State

Verified on Linux on Arm's and ST's Apache-2.0 annotated files (CMSIS-RTX v5.9.0, CMSIS_5 5.9.0 and 5.4.0, CMSIS-FreeRTOS v11.1.0, Keil.STM32F4xx_DFP 3.1.2 `.dbgconf`): all 247 items read, unchanged sets byte-identical, pinned diffs, and edited headers preprocessed by arm-none-eabi-gcc 13.2.1 define the new values; Electron tests; used in the running app.

Not verified: a comparison with uVision's own wizard, and a build of edited files with Arm Compiler 6. The values of a `.dbgconf` are edited, but the Editor's debug sessions do not apply them.

## Agents

Agents can list configuration files, read a wizard's options, preview changes and set values (**List Configuration Files**, **Read Configuration Wizard**, **Preview Configuration Wizard Changes**, **Set Configuration Wizard Values**). Setting values writes the file only after you confirm.
