# Agent tools

The 62 tools the Energy module gives the Editor's agent: what they read, what they change, and how every change and every connection is put to the engineer first.

**State:** modelled. All 62 tools are tested through the Editor's real tools service with auto-approval on: every confirmed tool still shows its confirmation, and a declined one changes no file, writes no file, starts no capture and opens no connection. **No session with a language model has been run**, so whether a model picks the right tool and parameters is not verified. The online and live capture tools were tested against stand-in services.

The tools exist only while `neuralInverse.energy.enabled` is on. They wrap the module's own readers and services. Files must be inside a workspace folder; an SCL file open in the editor is read with its unsaved changes. Answers are compact, with lists capped at 200 entries and each answer at 32,000 characters, with a note when cut.

## Reads from a live IED: asked once per connection (9)

Browse Online IED, Read Online Value, Compare Online IED With SCL, List Records of Online IED, Read Event Log of Online IED, Relay State of Online IED, Measured Values of Online IED, Setting Groups of Online IED, Compare Active Setting Group With SCL.

The first such read on a connection asks "Let the agent read from IED <IED>?", naming the IED and its address and saying nothing is written, whatever auto-approval says. A declined read sends no request. A connection you confirmed through the agent's connect tool counts as allowed; a new connection asks again.

## Confirmed at every call (26)

Confirmed even with auto-approval on:

- **SCL edits**, each one Undo step, not saved: Set SCL Address, Add GOOSE or SV Subscription, Remove GOOSE or SV Subscription, Add Data Set Member, Remove Data Set Member, Rename IED, Set Relay Setting in SCL (checked against its type; only the SCL file changes), Record SCL Revision, Increase confRev, Upgrade SCL Edition.
- **Authoring**, each one Undo step: Create Data Set, Remove Data Set, Move Data Set Member, Create Control Block, Change Control Block, Remove Control Block, Add Control Block Address, and Add IED from ICD/IID.
- **Files written** to a workspace path the confirmation names, replacing a file only when asked: Export CID (saying nothing is loaded to the IED), Write Gateway Signal List, Export COMTRADE for a Test Set.
- **Live capture:** Start Live GOOSE and SV Capture on a named interface (it only listens).
- **Online:** Connect to IED Online (at the SCL file's address, a given host, or with a connection profile), Download Records From Online IED (whole files into a workspace folder; nothing on the IED is changed or deleted).
- **PCM600:** Import SCD into PCM600, Export SCD from PCM600.

A call that cannot be made (a name already used, a value of the wrong type, a confRev that does not increase, a file that exists) is not put to you; the agent is told why.

Stop Live GOOSE and SV Capture and Disconnect Online IED.

## What no tool does

No tool writes to an IED, loads a configuration to one, deletes a file on one, operates a control, or changes a mode, test mode, simulation or setting group. No tool reads or sets a certificate, key or password: with a connection profile, credentials come from the secret storage after the confirmation and are never returned to the agent.

## Try it

With the Energy environment on, open the Chat view in Agent mode:

1. "Check north-station.scd and tell me who subscribes to P1's GOOSE." The agent calls Check SCL File and SCL Data Flow without asking.
2. "Subscribe P2's LLN0 to the breaker position XCBR1.Pos that P1 publishes in gcb01." A confirmation "Change north-station.scd?" names the change and says it is one Undo step and not saved. Skip it: the file does not change. Allow it: one new input, undone by one Undo.
3. Ask it to load the CID to a relay: there is no tool for it.
