## In short

Neural Inverse Build (the Editor, the Agents app and the CLI) and Neural Inverse Govern are proprietary software of Neural Inverse. Their source code is not published. Your organisation uses them under its agreement with us, which sets out who may use them, where and for what.

Neural Inverse OSS, an open-source editor we released in 2026 (up to version 1.1.3), was a separate, different product. Its development has stopped. It does not contain Build or Govern, and they are not built from it. Its released versions remain under the Apache License 2.0.

## Evaluation licence

Before you buy, you can evaluate Build and Govern under an evaluation licence: on the service we host for 30 days, or on your own servers or air-gapped for \[self-hosted evaluation length: to be confirmed\]. It allows trying the products, not production work. See [how to buy](https://neuralinverse.com/how-to-buy/#evaluate).

## Reviewing the source

Under a non-disclosure agreement, your security team can review the source code, our threat models and our security tests. We design and test our products on the assumption that an attacker has the source, so no control depends on the code being secret; see [red-team testing](https://neuralinverse.com/trust/security-testing/).

## Source code escrow

Enterprise and government agreements can include source code escrow: we deposit the source code of the versions you use with an independent escrow agent, and it is released to you under the conditions in your agreement, for example if we stop supporting the product. Escrow agent: \[source code escrow agent: to be confirmed\].

## Code inherited from Code - OSS

The Editor and the Agents app are built on Code - OSS, the open-source core of Visual Studio Code. The portions derived from it remain licensed by Microsoft Corporation under the MIT License, and its copyright and permission notice is kept with the software. Our own code is not covered by that licence.

## Other open-source components

Our products include open-source libraries under their own licences. Each app and each Govern release comes with notices listing them and their licence texts, and you can ask us for the list for any version.

## Our fonts

The Inverse type family is open source under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, separately from our products. See [Brand](https://neuralinverse.com/brand/) to download it.

## Trademarks

Neural Inverse, its logo and product names are trademarks of Neural Inverse. No licence grants rights in them. Other product names belong to their owners.
